Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a dhoti and a veshti?
They are the same garment. Veshti is the Tamil word, dhoti is the Hindi word. Panchakacham refers to a longer dhoti tied in the traditional five-fold style.
Do you sell ready-to-wear dhotis?
Yes. Velcro and elastic-waist dhotis are pre-stitched so you can wear them like trousers. They are the easiest option for boys and for anyone new to draping.
What length should I buy?
A 4 mulam (about 2 metres) veshti suits daily and casual wear. An 8 mulam (about 4 metres) is used for panchakacham draping at weddings and religious ceremonies.
